Right now, were recruiting 4 Clinical Skills Trainers here at NHS Blood & Transplant to contribute to something truly unique. These are national roles, you may be based at any NHSBT main centre, by agreement. Please note in the supporting information your preferred base location. This is a rare opportunity to be part of the exiting changes within our newly established Nursing division. As a Clinical Skills Trainer, you'll have the chance to shape this role according to your expertise and vision. Your previous knowledge, skills and expertise will enable you to work independently to exercise your initiative and discretion in developing the role and the support to the department lead and our key internal and external stakeholders across the NHS. Working within the directorate, youll have the opportunity to engage with a diverse range of people to drive performance. With a focus on building capability, theyll be plenty of opportunities to develop your skills and receive coaching from the department lead and wider team. Main duties of the job

In this role you will be responsible for delivering clinical skills training to peers across all directorates within NHS Blood & Transplant. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include: - Planning training sessions to cover a wide geographical range, to meet demand and maintain the compliance of staff in line with mandatory training requirements. Liaising with senior management to ensure the business needs of the organization are being considered. Acting as an expert in the field of clinical skills education and training across all directorates. Providing, primarily, Basic Life Support training, advice, and guidance within your range of expertise to staff within the organisation. Supporting the delivery of clinical changes to practice, ensuring such changes are effectively embedded within the workforce. Supporting the Resuscitation Lead Nurse in policy management and review, in relation to this field of practice. Analysing and developing course content, to meet the needs of candidates in attendance and to keep in fitting within the needs of their role. As part of this role you will be required to work irregular hours and to undertake travel and spend time away from base (with appropriate prior notice). This will not include late nights, weekends, or bank holidays.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Specialist knowledge of Adult education theories and practice via relevant adult teaching qualification such as Certified in education/Level 4 adult teaching and assessing qualification OR Equivalent experience in the field of education plus willingness to work towards Level 4 adult teaching and assessing qualification
  • GCSE Grade A-C in Maths & English or skills level 2 Maths & English or equivalent certification.
  • Demonstrates commitment to own continued professional development (CPD)

Experience

Essential

  • Solid understanding of Resuscitation Council UK guidelines.
  • Experience of undertaking training needs analysis with individuals and the ability to seek solutions to address identified training needs
  • Aware of quality and safety standards
  • Previous experience of First Aid at work training
  • Confidence in own practice, including knowing when to seek advice and escalate to the appropriate professional for expert help and advice
  • Experience of facilitating in a classroom environment. Including a developed ability to analyse and assess candidates competence in multiple aspects of practical performance.
  • Demonstrating confidence in providing feedback and decision making and judgement around declaring candidates as competent to pass the courses attended.
  • Experience of working with information technology using Microsoft Office packages (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams and PowerPoint)
