Job summary

The successful candidate for this role may be based at any NHS Blood & Transplant main centre by agreement. Its an exciting time for nursing in NHS Blood & Transplant with the refresh and launch of our Nursing Strategy. You will be in a unique position and have corporate nursing responsibilities within NHSBT. Developing a network of skilled and specialist nurses as well as external (HEE/HEI/NHSI). Utilising organisational expertise to assist in the development of the nursing workforce and implementation of the Nursing strategy. Working within the Corporate Nursing team and working closely with the senior leadership team and nursing leaders as well as being an integral part of our nursing council will mean you have a part in changing and influencing, making NHSBT the best place to work for nurses. In addition to working for a unique, national NHS Employer, we will provide you with an extensive induction and ongoing development programme specific to this role to support you in achieving your career ambitions.

Main duties of the job

In this role you will be: Leading the design, development and delivery of Clinical training activities that meet stakeholder and workforce needs. Assisting in the delivery of nurse education across all the directorates of National Health Blood and Transplant - Blood Donation services, Plasma for Medicine, Organ and Tissue Donation services and Therapeutic Apheresis services, developing programmes of learning to meet the needs of a diverse nursing workforce. Working as an integral part of the NHS Blood & Transplant Nurse Council, assisting with the delivery of the NHS Blood & Transplant nurse strategy. Assisting the Corporate Nursing Team (CNT) with the delivery of professional development for all nurses. Engaging with external providers in developing education packages that will promote our organisation. The working pattern of this post is flexible, by agreement. You will be required to travel and spend time away from base, which will involve working irregular hours and overnight stays when required, with prior notice.

Essential

  • Be a Registered Nurse with current Nursing and Midwifery Council registration; RN1 or RNA (which must be maintained)
  • Degree at Masters Level or equivalent relevant experience gained by working in senior/managerial level.
  • Demonstrates commitment to own continued professional development (CPD)

Experience

  • Experience of student supervision, education experience, clinical teaching and providing support and feedback to a range of learners
  • Knowledge of education quality assurance processes
  • Good comprehension of the NMC (2018) Pre-registration education standards
  • Familiar with student Practice Assessment Documentation
  • Experience in leadership, change management and leading healthcare improvements
  • Demonstrates involvement in professional development, both personal and of others
