Job summary

This is a brand-new role which is critical to our future success, and through your efforts, you are supporting with delivery of a hugely important activity within NHSBT that will save and improve peoples lives.

As a Case Study Officer, you will be working to help ensure we build an effective database of donors, patients and families who want to share their stories to help us further promote our work in saving and improving lives through lived experience. You will be working with Media, Communications and Marketing teams to produce accurate, compelling but sensitive case study narratives to be used in materials across the organisation and externally in the media. You will be required to create relationships at pace both internally and externally to ensure we are able to develop strong narratives within this critical area.

Main duties of the job

In this role you will be support the Senior Case Studies Officer to develop and maintain a database of donors and recipients who represent the full range of people affected by blood, organ, tissue, and stem cell donation as part of a national team to promote the work of NHS Blood and Transplant, attract blood and organ donors. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Working closely with donors, families, and patients to support them to tell their stories in line with NHSBT objectives.
  • Sharing these stories in the media, through social media and in marketing materials to raise awareness of the need for donors and of the lifesaving and transforming potential of donation.
  • Sourcing the most appropriate stories to help recruit more ethnic minority donors.
  • Work collaboratively to inform and deliver case study plan in line with NHSBT objectives and strategy on donation of products
  • Work sensitively with patients and families and ensure they are correctly supported in sharing their experience to help promote donation and their welfare is considered at all times
  • Ensure records across the organisation comply with data protection legislation and are kept up to date
  • You will be required to travel and spend time away from base, which will involve working irregular hours and overnight stays when required, with prior notice
