Job summary

The Histocompatibility & Immunogenetics (H&I) function supports haematopoietic stem cell and solid organ transplant programmes for hospitals throughout England. It also provides transfusion, platelet and granulocyte immunology investigations and donor services for the British Bone Marrow Registry, NHS Cord Blood Bank and platelet supply chain. The H&I management team support six national H&I laboratories in the delivery of H&I services to the NHS and the wider healthcare community. Were looking for a Bioinformatics Specialist. You will have the ability to work to a high degree of accuracy and precision and be able to work on your own initiative and as part of a team in an environment of changing pressures and practices.

Main duties of the job

Your role will be to contribute to the carrying out of requirements analysis and other related activities for developing H&I IT systems including Hematos (NHSBT Laboratory Information Management System) Contribute to the development and maintenance of the configuration requirements library for Hematos Work with the H&I Management Team to prepare data from legacy systems for migration to new systems Contribute to the acceptance testing of new IT systems and new functionality in existing IT system for H&I Help to carry out training in the use of Hematos for H&I users To help carry out information mining and statistical analyses on data resulting from H&I service delivery and as a result of these analyses, help to develop performance indicators to improve the services provided This role will be based at Colindale Centre, however dependent upon experience flexibility for location will be considered.
