Job summary
Reporting to the Deputy CEO, the CDIO will lead a multi-disciplinary team of 300+, dedicated digital, data, tech and cyber professionals in support of NHSBTs corporate strategy and mission, providing our 6,000+ staff with the tools and technology they need to support the NHS front line and transforming the user experience for over 800,000 members of our donor community. One of the many things that makes the role both interesting and challenging is the wide breadth of technology in use, and opportunities that exist to digitise and automate even more of our services. This includes consumer facing digital services used by our donors and partners in hospitals, complex algorithms that enable organ matching, critical systems that drive our supply chain operations and all the other standard corporate technology youd expect to find in an organisation of this size and scale.
Main duties of the job
Act as an effective member of the Executive Team, regularly attending Board to present and obtain approval for key digital, data and technology strategic initiatives.
Influence the strategic direction of the organisation by highlighting the opportunities offered by digital, data and emerging new technologies to transform service delivery.
Develop and deliver a strategic roadmap of digital, data and technology change to underpin NHSBTs future vision, strategy, and plans.
Elevate DDaT's capabilities for transformative change, emphasizing reliability and outstanding customer service, while also efficiently managing the £42 million Directorate budget.
Cultivate productive partnerships and serve as a role model to engage, motivate, facilitate, coach and influence colleagues across NHSBT so that the technology agenda is understood, owned, and fully aligned to business needs.
Provide outstanding leadership to a distributed team of approximately 300 ensuring that individuals are highly motivated and reach their potential through development.
Inspire confidence at executive level regularly step outside own command and actively influence peers, senior leaders, and key stakeholders.
Work with the Deputy CEO to secure widespread support for an ambitious, iterative programme of work that will truly act as an enabler for the business and will improve organisational efficiency and effectiveness.
