Job summary

The Supply Planning Specialist will be responsible for the planning of blood component collection, to ensure that sufficient components are available nationally, adjusting plans accordingly to react to changes in demand and providing sufficient data to inform and deliver the required strategy to ensure there is sufficient collection of all components, blood types and specialist products at all times. The Supply Planning Specialist will use the demand forecast, existing supply forecast and projected stock levels to forecast future supply needs.

Main duties of the job

Providing high quality, dedicated support to the National Supply Manager by controlling: Red Cell, Platelet and Plasma collection targets for all blood components o Assessing current demand and forecasted future demand in-order to provide adequate blood components for hospitals. When something significant changes in the supply chain and demand, the Supply Planning Specialist is responsible for responding to these changes and solving any supply chain problems that arise. Overview of manufacturing and testing capacity for red cells and platelet and national freezer capacapacity for FFP/Cryo and Plasma for medicine. Using your initiative and be able to identify and propose opportunities for improvement Producing reliable stock forecasts for all products to inform actions. in the supply chain to avoid stock out of products (short term whole blood forecasts and forecasted stock position). Leading and/or contributing to specific projects aimed to improve the supply chain for patients and/or realise savings across the supply chain, e.g., Bank Holiday Planning and Business Planning. Tracking and reporting on supply performance.
