Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled Consultant in Sport and Exercise Medicine or GPwER to drive, innovate and deliver on clinical expertise, leadership and quality in a dynamic Musculoskeletal (MSK) service.

You will be part of an energetic multi-disciplinary team of advanced physiotherapists, physiotherapists, MSK clinicians and psychologist delivering expert clinical care based in and around Hull.

You will have excellent clinical MSK skills including being competent to inject under ultrasound-guidance. You will also have diagnostic ultrasound skills with the ability to use ultrasound as an extension to the clinical assessment accreditation with the Royal College of Radiologists is desirable. Opportunities are available for further teaching and mentoring in diagnostic and therapeutic ultrasound if required. You will be confident is managing complex cases and will support clinicians in training with their development.

Developing and promoting a positive and dynamic image and culture, you will be key in fostering productive relationships with key stakeholders such as local Consultants and GPs.

Main duties of the job

To deliver clinical expertise in Sport and Exercise Medicine (SEM) and Musculoskeletal (MSK) Medicine in our Hull MSK Service

To provide Consultant Leadership in our Hull MSK Service

Delivery of SEM-relevant clinical services in line with clinical, information governance standards and reporting requirements for Healthshare

To work with the Service Clinical Lead on ensuring all clinical services are developed and delivered in line with Healthshare 10/10 clinical guidelines, clinical governance requirements and national standards as defined by relevant medical bodies

To ensure the appropriate policies and procedures are practiced within MSK services to comply with internal and external standards, and where appropriate any legislative and statutory requirements

To contribute to a positive image and culture within Healthshare Hull services and nationally, visible to both internal and external stakeholders

To contribute positively to Business Development opportunities in Hull

To work with Healthshares' wider SEM Consultant team to develop the SEM role in the organisation including potentially Health and Wellbeing innovations as well as MSK clinical practice

Clinical

  • To utilise advanced SEM expertise to function as a SEM Consultant managing a complex clinical caseload within the Hull Community MSK Service
  • To utilise advanced SEM and MSK expertise to deliver clinical care that is beyond the recognised scope of an APP e.g. injections outside local PGDs
  • To provide a consultation and advisory service to other clinical colleagues and healthcare professionals within the service
  • To ensure AHPs and other clinical colleagues are fully integrated into the pathway recognising the valuable contribution each can provide to patients
  • To recognise the importance of psychosocial factors in patient presentations as well as biomedical to fit with Healthshares culture and vision for modern healthcare
  • Consultant leadership in the supervision, provision, and the management of care to patients. This includes all administrative duties associated with patient care
  • To provide clinical advice and education to SEM and GP registrars, First Contact Practitioners and APPs and any other relevant colleagues
