Job summary
We are looking for an experienced Orthopaedic
Scrub Nurse to work in our day surgery theatre.
As an Orthopaedic Scrub
Nurse, you will work as a member of the multi-disciplinary theatre team providing
a high standard of nursing care and safety for patients within the theatre
unit.
In addition to this,
you will also actively contribute to the maintenance of an environment
that is conducive to the delivery and promotion of a high standard of patient
care.
The post holder will adhere to professional
and national standards and work in a patient-focused way. Delivering a service
that is safe, effective and efficient.

Main duties of the job
- Deliver a consistently high standard of patient care utilizing evidence-based practice
- Assess, plan, deliver and implement excellent perioperative patient care by demonstrating safe, clinical decision-making and expert care.
- Prepare equipment and instruments according to Surgeons preference cards and organizing provision of sets and instruments.
- Ensure all equipment is checked prior to use and any faults reported to the Theatre Co-coordinator immediately.
- Liaise with Sterile Services for cleaning and processing instrument sets.
- Prepare and support patients for procedures under Local/Regional/General Anaesthetics.
- Be a good mentor and role model for staff and work as part of the multidisciplinary team by sharing knowledge and information, supporting colleagues, promoting cohesive team work and working together to achieve clinical objectives.

- Document all instructions for post-operative care.
- Liaise and communicate with the Surgeon, Anaesthetist, and Theatre team and ward staff as and when necessary regarding Patient Care.
