We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and committed receptionist to join our friendly team. The position is part time. Mon to Fri between 8.00am and 6.30pm.
Shifts vary each week and therefore the post holder will need to be flexible with their working hours. There are times when overtime is required and you will be expected to undertake your fair share of overtime over your contracted hours to cover staff absence.
We are ideally looking for someone with excellent interpersonal skills and experience with dealing with the general public. Delivering high quality services is essential.
Duties will include general assistance to the practice team, answering the telephone, care navigation, sign posting patients to the most appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient, and effective way. Dealing with patient enquiries both over the telephone and on the reception desk. Computer literacy is essential and full training will be given as appropriate.
Salary £12.21 per hour

Main duties of the job
Using Care Navigation, receive, assist and direct patients,visitors in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a calm, empathetic, courteous and effective way
Process telephone and e requests for appointments appropriately.
Initiating contact with and responding to, requests from patients, team members and external agencies
Photocopy documentation as required
Action emails as directed
Processing and distributing incoming and outgoing mail and hospital letters, paper and electronic
Data entry of new and temporary registrations and relevant patient information as required
Input data into the patients healthcare records as necessary
Computer data entry/data allocation and collation, processing and recording information in accordance with practice protocols
Scanning of patient related documentation and attaching scanned documents to patients healthcare records
Process patient prescriptions as directed.
Support the practice administrator with requests for information i.e. SARs, insurance,solicitors letters, DVLA forms, booking of private medicals etc.

Manage all queries, taking messages as necessary and passing information on in an efficient and timely manner
Maintain a clean, tidy, effective working area at all times
Monitor and maintain the reception area and notice boards ensuring clean, tidy and free from obstruction

About us
Riverside Medical Practice is based at Pontllanfraith Health Centre and is a busy single site practice with a stable list size of approx 8800 patients. You will work alongside an excellent clinical team comprising of 4 GPs, 1 Advanced Nurse Practitioner, 2 Practice Nurses, 1 Health Care Assistant, 1 phlebotomist, and an excellent receptionist and administrative team. We also have a team of NCN,HB Allied Health Professionals working from the practice site to include a Physiotherapist, a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner and a Pharmacist. The District Nursing Team are also based within the building along with other Health Board Allied Health Professionals and an Independent Dispensing Pharmacy also provides a service from within the building. We provide an exceptional service and are proud to have maintained have been awarded Best GP Practice in South Wales - 2024 and runners up in 2023. To be responsible for undertaking a wide range of reception duties and the provision of general support to the multidisciplinary team. Duties can include but are not limited to, greeting and directing patients, effective use of the appointment system, booking appointments, processing of information and assisting patients as required. To act as the central point of contact for patients, the distribution of information, messages and enquiries for the clinical team, liaising with multidisciplinary team members and external agencies such as secondary care and community service providers.
The following are the core responsibilities of the receptionist, however this list is not exhaustive and other duties and responsibilities may be added that fall in line with the general role and responsibilities of this post. This may include any or all of the duties listed, and may vary from time to time under the direction of the Practice Manager, dependent on current and evolving practice workload. This will be dependent upon factors such as workload, staffing levels and staff competency.
a. Offer general assistance to the practice team and project a positive, professional and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone
