Job summary
We are looking to appoint a GP to join our friendly supportive team at Whitchurch Medical Centre to cover a 1 year maternity locum cover. The practice has a population of approximately 11,000 patients. The team consists of 5 Partners and 5 Sessional GP.
High Performing QOF & QAIF with good access outcomes
3 Practice Nurses and 2 Health Care Assistants
Full complement of admin support staff and high staff retention
Active Patient Participation Group
EMIS practice
Active in research PICRIS
Provide all enhanced services.
Placement for Year 1, 2, 3 ,4 & 5 medical students
GP training practice
We are proud to be a training and teaching practice for medical and nursing students The candidate must be fully registered with the GMC and be listed on the Cardiff and Vale UHB performers list for general medical services. Due to teaching status, it is desirable the candidate has MRCGP with an interest in medical education. Must also have mode of transport to carry out house visits

The Practice is situated in Whitchurch and it benefits from a range of shops and restaurants locally. Whitchurch Medical Centres team comprises of 5 GP Partners, and 5 GP assistants, 3 Practice Nurses, 2 Healthcare Assistants and is supported by a highly effective and friendly admin and reception team. Job responsibilities
The duties of the post are to provide a full range of general medical services as contained within the National Health Services (Primary Care) Act 1997, which will include domiciliary visits as deemed appropriate. The post holder is expected to support the partners of Whitchurch Village Practice providing all services outlined in the GMS Core Contract and in the aims and objectives of the Practice.
The post holder is expected to inform the Practice of any previous or new convictions or referrals to the GMC should they occur.
The post holder is expected to support and input into the aims of the practice in areas of clinical governance, good practice, quality outcomes framework, enhanced services, practice audit, referral review and any other improvement plans as determined by the practice. Your performance in each area will be monitored and referrals may be re-routed if appropriate.
The post holder is encouraged to utilise and develop any skills for the improvement of services to patients, such as minor operations, child health surveillance, family planning training etc, if approved by the Health Board. This will be subject to presentation of the appropriate certificates and update of relevant courses.
The post holder is expected to maintain and keep timely good standards of computerised clinical records at all times. Full involvement in any practice training and ongoing requirements of our status as a paperless practice is expected.
