The practice receptionists have the privilege of being the first point of contact for patients and other services and clinicians contacting the practice. Excellent written and spoken communication skills are key in order to be able to deal with any request in the most appropriate and timely manner. You will be part of an experienced team, and ongoing training is regularly provided.

Main duties of the job

Our practice receptionists are responsible for undertaking a wide range of administrative and reception duties, including the provision of general support to the clinical multidisciplinary team. Duties can include, but are not limited to, greeting and signposting patients to the appropriate healthcare professional or service (care navigation), patient registration, booking appointments, processing of information (electronic and hard copy) and assisting patients as required. You will act as the central point of contact for patients, the distribution of information, messages and enquiries for the clinical team, liaising with multidisciplinary team members and external agencies such as secondary care and community service providers.

About us

Working in any GP surgery is a challenging but rewarding career. You get to interact with such a wide variety of people, often supporting patients in difficult times. The work is busy and fast-paced, and requires stamina and concentration. But at Pencoed/Llanharan Medical Centre you'll be joining a fantastic, stable and supportive team. So if you're up for the challenge, ideally have experience of working in a health environment, and want to join our team, we'd love to hear from you.

Our surgery is open Monday to Friday between the hours of 8am and 6.30pm, and you will be expected to work on rota basis between these hours. Typically our rota is the same most weeks, but flexibility is always a benefit.
