Trosnant Lodge Surgery has a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Practice Nurse to join our friendly practice team. The role includes the usual practice nurse duties, such as chronic disease reviews, immunisations, wound care, smear taking etc. The position is for 20 hours per week, with shift pattern to be agreed. We are happy to be flexible on weekly hours for the right candidate. Ideally, we would like someone with experience of childhood immunisations.
Main duties of the job
Your duties will include, but are not limited to:
Chronic disease management
Wound care - including removal of sutures, dressing changes etc.
Contraceptive and HRT reviews
Immunisations - both childhood and adult
Smears and swabs
ECGs

Job responsibilities
The post holder will be a Registered Nurse who is a reliable, motivated and flexible individual who can work well independently and within a multidisciplinary team. The Practice Nurse will work as part of the Primary Healthcare Team, providing personal medical services to the patient of Trosnant Lodge Surgery. You will be accountable for your own professional actions. Primary care provision rapidly changes, and the post holder is expected to evolve to reflect this.
Main Activities, Duties and Responsibilities
Consultations:
Chronic disease monitoring and management
Cervical screening and swabs
Contraception reviews and follow ups
Immunisations
Wound management
ECGs
Health promotion
HRT checks
Provide supervision and support to the HCAs and Phlebotomists
Venepuncture
Recognising and reporting deterioration of patients, both urgent and non-urgent
Ensuring the emergency equipment is correct
Supporting the reception team in assisting with urgent patients
CPD / Practice Admin:
Attendance at nurse meetings
Attendance at practice meetings
Attendance at Protected Time Sessions
Attends regular clinical updates as appropriate
Provides summary feedback of any updates to their colleagues
Maintain a professional portfolio
Areas of Additional Responsibility:
Maintaining and cleaning equipment used by the nurses and GPs.
Maintaining GP and Nurses rooms, stocking and rotating items as required.
Chaperoning and assisting patients who are being examined by another clinician.
Maintain general tidiness and cleanliness of nurses and treatment rooms.
Support the ordering of vaccines to maintain stock levels.
Participation in administrative systems in the practice.
Maintain accurate records
A duty to advise senior staff members of potential problems or errors within the assigned tasks.
Fridge monitoring.
Any other delegated duties appropriate to the post.
Research and Audit:
Participate in clinical GMS audit projects.
Participate in Quality Improvement Projects and Audits.
Flexibility:
Provide cover for both annual and sick leave.

Annual Leave and Study Leave:
Annual leave entitlement will be up to 33 days, pro-rata, per year plus bank holidays, this is dependant on length of service.
Time off to attend relevant training courses and updates will be approved in line with the practice policy.
Hours of Work:
Your hours of work will be agreed and detailed in your contract. The post holder will be expected to work the hours needed to fulfil the needs of the Practice, which might at times include working longer or unsociable hours.
Pension Scheme:
