Hourly Rate: £10.48
18.5 hours a week
Cwmbran Village Surgery is a 15,000 patient practice looking to recruit a new Medical Receptionist/Telephonist to compliment their existing team. Previous GP Surgery experience is welcome but substantial Telephonist, Reception & Customer Service experience is essential. A flexible approach to working hours is preferred.
The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills with Customer Service at the forefront, be professional at all times and have the flexibility to adapt to all aspects of the role. IT skills are essential and previous experience and knowledge of Vision Clinical Software would be advantageous but not essential, as full training will be given.
The ability to work under pressure when necessary is essential. This is a challenging role and the successful candidate will need to be forward thinking, able to make decisions and refer to set protocols. The successful candidate will require call handling skills as well as public facing customer service.

Cwmbran Village Surgery is situated in Cwmbran, Torfaen, Wales - nestled on the Monmouthshire-Brecon Canal, just North of the city of Newport. The practice is an easy drive from Cardiff (30mins) and North Bristol (35mins), there are also excellent rail links with regular services to Newport, Cardiff and to the North. The surgery benefits from ample parking and EV charging on site.
The practice is excellently organised across two sites by our experienced management team supported by a friendly and hard-working administrative team.

Opening & closing procedures as per protocol & Key holder PolicyEffective & efficient reception service is provided to patients and any other visitorsAll general enquiries, procedures & make appointments.Receive & distribute deliveries.Refer to all practice protocols for Triage & Care Navigation.Use your own judgment & communication skills, ensure that patients who need urgent consultation are seen in a logical & non-disruptive manner as per practice protocols.Explain practice arrangements & formal requirements to new patients.Receive & make telephone calls as required.Enter requests for home visits into the visit book.Action prescription requests & queries.Prepare any information & stock for all surgeries.Advise patients of relevant charges for private (non General Medical Services) services.Scanning & Filing Incoming mail within the electronic systemEnter patient information on to the computer as required.Sending reminder Texts for next days appointments.Maintain supplies of stationary in reception & GP roomsAction/Reply to any electronic mail via WCCG/EmailUse AccuRx and any other software introduced to the practice as per protocolOutgoing MailPromote Online Services including My Health OnlineMake & serve refreshmentsPreparing & sending out letters when required.Undertake any other additional duties appropriate to the post as requested by the partners or the practice manager.
