Job summary

With the retirement of our esteemed partner of over 30 years we are looking for a new partner to join our 6 GP partner town centre practice with off street parking. The successful candidate would join as a partner with a mutual trial period -we would also welcome any candidate who would prefer a set time frame salaried post before a commitment. Our Practice is looking for either an established or new GP who wants to develop their career within our GMS and our Non GMS business.

Main duties of the job

We are looking to give the opportunity for a new partner to train in all or some of the following areas:

  1. Our Vasectomy Service for Cwm Taff LHB & Cardiff and Vale LHB one of the current partners is an accredited FRCS trainer. We have an operating theatre within our premises.

  2. Minor Surgery and extended minor surgery clinics along with joint injections.

  3. Our womens health team providing implant and IUC specific clinics.

  4. Training Hub Medical Students, Foundation Year and GP training, Physicians Associate Training, Pharmacy undergraduate and postgraduate training, Nurse training. Dedicated time is given.

  5. Our Occupational Health Business for a GP with no background in this there is an opportunity to attain the Diploma in Occupational health funded by the partnership

  6. Aesthetics Clinic a GP without experience would have the opportunity to train whilst an established clinician would join our business.

  7. IT development we are innovative and looking at all ways to improve efficiency and the delivery of both our GMS and Non-GMS services one partner is the medical officer for VISION.

  8. Research we are an established Research Centre running commercial, academic and NHS studies and we employ a dedicated research nurse. We would encourage a partner to become GCP trained which will be organised by the partnership and take leadership of appropriate studies particularly in areas of their interest.

Ashgrove Surgery is a highly-respected training practice in the heart of the Welsh Valleys. With a patient population of circa 16,000 patients including a student population from the University of South Wales. Our goal is to grow our established training abilities by becoming a centre of excellence whilst simultaneously providing the highest quality of Primary Care services. As well as placing a strong emphasis on education & training, the practice is also a high-tiered research centre with a purpose built research facility. We offer the majority of enhanced services including joint injections, gender identity services, DOAC initiation and monitoring and minor ops as well as holding the contracts for Cwm Taf and Cardiff & Vale for vasectomy services due to the fact that we have our very own operating theatre. We also provide Occupational Health services and a private Aesthetics clinic. The practice boasts an excellent and highly professional team of 6 GP Partners, 3 salaried GPs, 1 Physician Associates, 2 Pharm Techs, 5 highly trained nurses (inc prescriber and minor illness), 2 HCAs, and 1 Phlebotomist all complimented by a supportive reception and administration team.
