Worcestershire Community Dental services
is a countywide service seeing patients on a referral basis. Our patients have
additional needs such as phobia's, special needs, and autism. We cover
dentistry in patients homes, hospitals and clinic based where you will work
alongside highly experienced dental operators,
therapists, nurses. In
our most recent CQC evaluation the community dental team were rated
outstanding for caring.
We are seeking Dental Nurses to work within our Urgent out
of Hours Service which provides urgent treatment for patients at weekends and
bank holidays. The clinics are a drop-in service and generally patients will be
seen on a first come basis.
The post holder will be a key member of the dental team, working with the Dentist to assist
in the smooth organisation of the surgery to give a high standard of care to
patients.
Main duties of the job
- To assist the Dentist in the clinical care of patients including the setting out of instruments and the preparation of materials necessary for treatment of teeth including fillings, extraction of teeth.
- To be responsible for the efficient decontamination, disinfection, sterilisation, and maintenance of dental instruments, including hand pieces. Maintaining work surfaces and equipment to a clean hygienic state.
- To update computerised patient records dictated under guidance of the Dentist as required.
- Deal with patients and communicate with them in a professional and effective manner.
- Some patients may be reluctant to have treatment so persuasive skills are needed.
- Motivate patients to change of lifestyle to improve oral health e.g. stop smoking

epidemiological surveys.

Accompany Dentists and/or Therapists on
domiciliary visits

When necessary, undertake reception duties to
include booking appointments, handling money, including weekly banking, dealing
with complaints and sending correspondence to patients.

Ensure that all Trust Policies are adhered to
including safety procedures and cross infection.

Put patient care at the heart of the work
you do to improve health care outcome, service delivery and building positive
working relationships.
