The Berkshire Healthcare CYPIT service is an integrated childrens therapy service shaped around the needs of the child and family operating within the Children, Families and All Age Services Division (CFAA). They are structured within integrated teams consisting of Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists, as well as a strong integrated therapy assistant team based in locality areas within East Berkshire strategically focused on phases of life. They work closely together to ensure they have the greatest therapeutic impact, working both directly and indirectly with children, young people and families to enable them to achieve their goals.
Main duties of the job
- Work as part of the Children and Young Peoples Integrated Therapy team under the direction of a Band 7 Operational Lead. You will function as an autonomous clinician with a role in supporting the delivery of the CYPIT service.
- Deliver a high standard of speech and language therapy care to children with developmental and complex needs. This could be in a range of settings, including clinics, educational settings, homes. You will evidence a high level of problem solving, reasoning skills and independence of judgement, using evidence-based practice and person-centred principles.
- Undertake clinical sessions, and manage a caseload as required, offering direct assessment, advice, signposting, intervention and training and support as required by the integrated therapy model.
- Investigate, interpret and analyse clinical and non-clinical facts to form accurate clinical diagnosis, evaluation and prognosis as part of the comprehensive assessment of patients, particularly those with a highly complex presentation, and to recommend the best course of intervention.
- Function as an autonomous clinician, supporting other more junior staff and accessing high level, specialist advice in highly complex cases, including child protection and safeguarding.
