Job summary
We have an exciting
opportunity for a Mammographer to join the Radiography team at West
Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. The Trust provides healthcare
services to over half a million people across Watford General, Hemel Hempstead,
and St Albans City Hospitals. This role is to
support the Mammography service in St Albans City Hospital within the X-ray
Department to the standard required by the Department of Radiology.
Main duties of the job
As a
Senior Mammographer, you will be an
effective member of the Radiography team, providing a high standard of
radiographic services to Radiologists, patients and service users. There will
be an expectation to supervise junior staff and students. The primary role is
to be an integral member of the mammography and one stop breast services at St
Albans City Hospital.

To perform and support imaging and mammography examinations while ensuring
patient safety, comfort, and compliance with IR(ME)R 2017 regulations.

To assist in setting up and maintaining quality assurance programmes,
carry out equipment checks, and report any faults or malfunctions promptly.

To supervise and guide junior staff and students, deputise for senior
radiographers when required, and uphold high professional and departmental
standards.

To keep up-to-date with professional developments in Radiology, attend
relevant seminars and courses, and apply new knowledge to improve departmental
practice.

To participate in clinical governance, audits, and ensure compliance with
departmental policies, data protection, and patient confidentiality.

To support the daily operations of the Radiology Department by maintaining
stock levels, accurate records, and ensuring all areas and equipment remain
clean and safe.

Qualifications
Essential
- Holds either DCR(R) or BSc in Radiography with current HCPC registration.
- Possesses a PgC in Mammography and post-qualification experience in mammography practice in NHS.
- Experience undertaking breast tomosynthesis
- Proficient in using CRIS, ICE, EPR, PACS, and IEP systems.
- Maintains up-to-date CPD and all mandatory training sessions attended.
