Hours: 3 days p/w between Mon-Fri 09:00-17:00

Pay rate: Day £13.79

Are you an experienced Phlebotomist? Do you have an all-round knowledge of hospital procedures? Are you available to start immediately in a new role? NHS Professionals have an exciting opportunity for a Phlebotomist to support our client trust. You will be responsible for accurately and safely providing necessary care to patients engaging with the service in the Trust. You will maintain key relationships with co-workers and other health care professionals across the Trust to ensure an effective service.

Main duties of the job

Collects, using venepuncture procedures, blood samples from patients attending the outpatient clinics at Wokingham Hospital.

Administers ECGs and other routine physical monitoring (eg. weight, blood pressure, temperature) for patients attending the outpatient clinics.

Aware of the clinical conditions and precautions that are necessary for sample quality to be maintained during the venepuncture procedure. This includes site selection, correct use of tourniquet and selection of blood sample bottles.

Ensures that blood sample bottles are accurately labelled and barcoded in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.

Provides and receives sensitive information from patients and their representatives where empathic skills are required. Includes communication with difficult patients who may have barriers to understanding. Able to present information accordingly.
