The Princess
Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust (PAHT) provides a full range of general acute,
outpatient and diagnostic services at The Princess Alexandra Hospital in
Harlow, the Herts and Essex Hospital in Bishops Stortford, and St Margarets
Hospital in Epping.
Main duties of the job
You will participate in symptomatic and
assessment clinics at the static unit, as well as in screening mammography
across both static and mobile units. You will be responsible for your own
clinical practice and ongoing professional development, while actively
contributing to service development and quality improvement through departmental
audits and quality assurance programmes. In addition, you will support clinical
governance and collaborate closely with colleagues across various disciplines
to achieve shared service objectives.

Job responsibilities

Performing screening and diagnostic mammography at both static and
mobile units in accordance with national and local protocols.
- Assisting in interventional breast procedures such as core biopsies and
localisations, including preparation of equipment and patient support.
- Ensuring the safe and effective use of imaging equipment, identifying
faults, and taking appropriate action when necessary.
- Promoting and maintaining high standards of clinical practice,
professionalism, and patient care in line with NHS policies and radiation
safety regulations.
- Actively participating in training, professional development, staff
meetings, and sharing knowledge gained through courses to improve service
quality.
- Supervising junior staff and students, supporting multidisciplinary
teamwork, and contributing to service delivery through operational duties and
departmental collaboration.

- HCPC Registration
- BSc. Radiography or Diploma of the College of Radiographers or equivalent
- Post-graduate certificate in mammography
- Evidence of CPD & experience as a radiographer within breast screening and symptomatic services
- Knowledge of NHSBSP guidelines for the practice of mammography, experience of QA procedure and processes
