Main duties of the job
To provide highly specialised assessment and treatment for patients with
complex needs, take a lead role in physiotherapy care at West Hertfordshire
Hospitals NHS Trust, act as a specialist resource for staff and other
healthcare professionals, lead the advanced assessment and treatment of
patients with diverse and complex presentations, and collaborate with the
multidisciplinary team to provide clinical diagnosis and plan appropriate
treatment while ensuring accurate record-keeping.

Responsibilities of this job role
- To plan, co-ordinate and evaluate the Physiotherapy service provided by Physiotherapy Team in conjunction with the Acute Therapy Services Managers and Therapy Team Leads.
- To be responsible for the supervision, appraisal, and education of more junior physiotherapy staff within the clinical team.
- To undertake a significant clinical caseload to a high professional standard, using specialist knowledge and skills from theoretical and practical experience to treat complex or highly complex patients.
- To supervise, educate and assess physiotherapy students on physiotherapeutic skills and knowledge within core clinical areas; this would be to a graduate standard and involve working with universities to ensure the standard practice and teaching meets the standards set by the degree level qualification.
- To undertake/lead evidence-based audit and research projects to develop and enhance personal and teams clinical practice within their area. Make recommendations to clinical lead/manager of service for changes to practice by the team. Will assist in the implementation of specific changes to practice or contribute to service protocols.
- To participate in the seven-day working rota with an approximate weekend frequency of 1:6 weekends with rest days the following week, and to participate in the on-call respiratory physiotherapy evening/night rota.
