Job Overview: Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Advanced Musculoskeletal (MSK) Physiotherapy Practitioner to join their Joint Health Service. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing expert assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for patients with complex musculoskeletal conditions. You will play a key role in managing patient care pathways, including requesting diagnostic tests and referring to specialist services where necessary. You will also act as a clinical leader, offering mentorship and support to junior staff.

Main duties of the job

Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake specialised MSK assessments and diagnoses.
  • Provide highly skilled treatment options including manual therapy, exercise prescription, and joint/soft tissue injections.
  • Manage onward referrals for patients needing secondary care (e.g., orthopaedics, rheumatology).
  • Act as an MSK specialist, supporting and mentoring junior physiotherapists.
  • Ensure accurate clinical records and contribute to clinical audits and service development.
  • Deliver patient-centred care and communicate effectively with patients, carers, and healthcare professionals.

  • Previous experience with systems like EMIS is desirable.
