Job summary
This role can provide additional responsibility in mentoring junior audiologists and providing supervision over them. This allows you to share your knowledge within the field to ensure the development of Audiology. Furthermore, this allows you to master your craft within your given specialism in Audiology.
In addition, there is the option to work at either hospital in Oxford or Banbury.
Main duties of the job
Selection and fitting of appropriate hearing aids, using real ear measurements to verify acoustic output; this requires a high degree of precision and manual dexterity.
Provide counselling and on-going audiological support to adults following diagnosis of their hearing loss. This requires empathy, understanding and reassurance, assisting them to overcome the emotional barriers to acceptance of their loss.
Reassessment appointments to re-evaluate the needs of patients whose hearing has changed and fit appropriate hearing aids.
Follow-up visits to assess the patients benefit and give further advice or training where required.
Undertaking walk-in repair clinics to deal with maintenance, repairs and advice to existing users.
