Trust are currently seeking an experienced Orthopaedic Technician to provide a high
quality service for patients within the Orthopaedic Outpatients department.
Main duties of the job
- Casting for all types of fractures
- Positioning and moulding of casts for fractures
- Serial casting for idiopathic toe walking, Perthes Disease and spinal deformities
- Casting for children with DDH (hip spicas)
- Wedging of cast
- Removal a K wires

Job responsibilities

Provide patient centred casting for
orthopaedic outpatients

Carry out a full range of plaster techniques
both routine and complex including specialist and synthetic casts as well as
resting/functional splinting, casting bracing and focused rigidity casting

Be responsible for supporting the patient
during cast application and removal and will ensure patients are given
appropriate advice re care of their cast and splint

Have enhanced additional support from the Senior

- BOA/RCN (SON) AOT Diploma in casting techniques/British Casting Certificate.
- Willingness to expand role & skills to meet the needs of children and families attending the plaster room.
- Demonstrates a commitment to continuous professional develop-ment
- Knowledge of human anatomy & physiology relevant to orthopaedics
- Able to work effectively as an em-powered member of the multi-disciplinary team
- Aware of professional responsibili-ties in the management and treat-ment of patients.
Desirable
- Experience of working in an acute hospital environment.
- Evidence of enthusiasm, flexibility and commitment for team ethos.
