Job Title: Facilities Manager

Trust: Surrey & Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust Location: Farnham Road Hospital in Guildford with travelling to various local sites. Pay: £26.88 per hour

Hours: Monday to Friday 08.00-16.00 (37.5 hours per week)

The role is to provide cover for up to 3 months with the potential to extend depending upon the return of the incumbent and makes a great entry opportunity for an external Soft Facilities Manager to make a real difference in the services offered on site, as well as directly impacting the longevity of the facilities that our NHS teams will use for years to come.

Overview

The Facilities Manager has a wide range of responsibilities including acting as interface between the Trust Corporate and clinical operational teams to ensure that services are delivered and monitored in line with service delivery and business needs, seeking assurance of the statutory and mandatory compliance at the main site and satellite locations.

Main duties of the job

Covering residential homes and corporate premises of the Trust responsible for the upkeep of soft facilities on-site, including catering, cleaning, building maintenance, environmental services, security and the reception/communal areas.

To directly line manage key heads of FM service, ensuring services are delivered in an effective and efficient way and resources are fully utilised, this will include supporting a broad range of employee relations areas, including but not limited to recruitment & retention, training & development, appraisals, MAST compliance, Employee Relations, Policy Compliance.

To provide leadership, support, advice, and guidance for staff who line manage other staff within the directorate.

To work with the Directorates Senior Management Team to support the continuous improvement of the facilities/soft services and the development and implementation of associated performance reports.

Identifying changing demands on services, developing, and implementing plans to meet them and supporting the change management process e.g., National Standard of Healthcare Cleanliness.

To directly line manage administrative staff within the directorate, ensuring cover is maintained 24 hours per day, this will include clerical staff, reception, and the expansion of the Facilities Helpdesk function.

Experience

Essential

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent qualification or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Previous proven operational management experience in the NHS or a similar environment involving a wide range of procedures and practices.
  • Experience of line managing individuals and or teams.
  • Working knowledge of standards and procedures in at least one of the key Soft Services areas of responsibility.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to gain and sustain credibility with peers & subordinate and key decision makers.
  • Ability to travel to other locations across the Trust, via public transport of car, as travel is required for this role.
