Job summary
We
have flexible bank shifts and long-term placement opportunities available for GPhC
registered pharmacy technicians at University Hospital Southampton NHS
Foundation Trust.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will join a team of specialist and
generalist clinical pharmacists, medicines optimisation technicians and
pharmacy assistants in delivering high quality, safe and effective care to
patients and service users.
This is a full-time role (37.5 hours) post for a Band 4
pharmacy technician who will play an integral part of the medicines
optimisation clinical services team providing a Pharmacy service and working
closely within the multi-disciplinary team.

Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Have experience of working in a
hospital pharmacy post registration.
- Communicating effectively with
patients and/or carers, giving appropriate advice to and counselling patients
and their representatives about how to use their medicines.
- Provide dispensary-based patient
services to inpatients and outpatients including clinical trials.
- Providing medicines management or
other technical information to healthcare professionals both within and
externally to the trust to ensure continuity of care.
- Supervising day to day work of
pharmacy support workers and junior staff, allocating tasks when necessary to
meet workload demands.
- Responsible for the contribution
to service improvement, evaluation and development.
- Responsible for the safe storage
and supply of medicines.
- Carrying out any other duties as
may be required by the pharmacist or senior pharmacy technician in charge of
the section.
