Job summary
The Command and Control centre at Watford General Hospital are recruiting. We are looking for an experienced Bed and Site Manager who is motivated, energetic, an expert problem solver and who enjoys working as part of a team, but also thrives on independent decision making. The Clinical Bed and Site Manager's role is pivotal in ensuring the patient is admitted in a timely manner, receives the right treatment in the right place and expertly communicates to all stakeholders. We are looking for someone who cares about the patient in their hospital, who will be proactive and challenge any delays.
Main duties of the job
You will take responsibility for leading the capacity team on a daily basis, facilitating patient flow across all specialities in the trust to promote positive patient outcomes and ultimately enhancing the patient's hospital journey. Working closely with the divisional management teams, you will support the trust to achieve both urgent care and elective quality targets.
The clinical bed and site manager role is diverse and you will need to be flexible and adaptable in an ever changing environment, with an ability to remain composed during periods of extreme pressure
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are an essential requirement of the role, in order to develop and manage relationships with key stakeholders. Working shifts, providing 24/7 cover across both of our hospitals, you will provide out of hours senior nursing support and clinical advice to all areas within the trust and be the responder in the event of a Critical/Major Incident.

To proactively manage the Trust operational bed capacity, ensuring that safe and effective decision making
occurs across all specialties to streamline the patient journey at the point of admission, transfer and discharge.
To provide real time capacity information to internal and external stakeholders through the provision of
accurate reporting including situation reporting and escalation management systems.
To Lead the Corporate Site Meetings, ensuring situation reports are accurately completed and plans agreed
for discussion and enactment.
To ensure Trust operational and escalation policies are followed with regard to Site Management and
Operational Flow and in response to pan site incidents and escalations, this includes on site responder
supporting the emergency teams for fire, security and serious adverse incidents.
To maintain proactive, concise, accurate and timely communications to all Trust stakeholders to support
planned and urgent care capacity plans.
To support the Head of Operations with implementation, monitoring and reporting of improvement plans
designed to deliver the improved quality and effectiveness of our planned and elective access pathways.
Site and Capacity Managers are expected to work for the clinical and business success of the Central
Operations Function with regard to pathways and operational bed management and to contribute to the
corporate objectives and values of the Trust with regard to patient care, quality of service and access
standards.
The post holder will be working as the Site Clinical Lead out of hours and the nature of the work involves
making timely decisions in concert with clinical teams and working within a busy operational environment.
