Main duties of the job

  • Conduct routine screening and diagnostic audiological tests, including audiometry, tympanometry, otoacoustic emissions, and vestibular function evaluation.
  • Perform otoscopy to identify ear health issues and advise patients, carers, and relatives on results and next steps.
  • Independently select, program, and fit digital and analogue hearing aids using advanced computer software and technology.
  • Provide counselling and rehabilitation guidance, helping patients adapt to hearing aids and set realistic expectations for their use.
  • Diagnose hearing loss, develop individualized treatment plans, and coordinate referrals to other specialists or services.
  • Run hearing aid repair and maintenance clinics, both in-house and at satellite locations, ensuring seamless patient care.
  • Perform aural impressions, ear mould selection, and modification for patients of all ages.
  • Undertake home visits for housebound patients, delivering high-quality care in restrictive settings.
  • Offer environmental aid and communication strategies to patients, carers, and their families.

  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively counsel patients and communicate with individuals and groups of all ages.
  • The ability to work independently, both in clinic settings and during home visits.
  • Knowledge of tinnitus management and vestibular function evaluation (desirable).
  • Familiarity with multi-agency approaches to patient care, including working with social services and independent living organizations.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and staying abreast of industry advancements.
