Main duties of the job

To be an Optometry lead within the Community Eye Services.

To assess, diagnose and manage patients referred to the optometry department. This post is based within the community and carries a specialist caseload delivering a highly complex optometric service and a comprehensive range of core services.

To provide teaching and training of other healthcare professionals, junior doctors and other senior medical staff.

Qualifications

Essential

  • BSc. Degree in Optometry
  • Completion of preceptorship
  • Postgraduate training and experience to masters level in a range of specialist areas, to include paediatrics
  • Registration with General Optical Council

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working with children of all ages
  • Knowledge of child development and an understanding of a range of complex conditions affecting vision development
