About the role:
Your responsibilities will include: Providing expert Psychiatric Care to adult in-patient ward and/or within the local
community; conducting assessments, creating tailored treatment plans and collaborating
with a multidisciplinary team to ensure the highest standard of mental health
care.
Main duties of the job
The Trust Associate Specialist, working under the Clinical Director's guidance, is responsible for:
- Direct psychiatric services: comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, care planning, and evidence-based treatment. (in-patient and/or community)
- Providing psychiatric and clinical leadership to the multidisciplinary team.
- Treatment planning and regular reviews, addressing patients' biopsychosocial needs through outpatient contacts or multidisciplinary care programs.
- Serving as a psychiatric liaison with other agencies.
- Involving families and carers in treatment planning with patient consent.
- Participating in teaching, clinical audits, quality assurance programs, and clinical governance.
- Conducting Mental Health Act work within appropriate governance frameworks, ensuring patient, carer, staff, and community safety.
- Developing clinical interests within the Trust's strategy and financial constraints, with possible dedicated sessions.
- Flexibly responding to changing service requirements.

well as with other specialist services.
The post holder will have a close working
relationship on clinical maters with the multi-disciplinary teams and liaise
with the Home Treatment Clinical Leads to maintain ongoing communication with
the Inpatient, Crisis Team, Liaison Team and Community Services in order to
promote a safe a seamless service. Senior medical support is available from a
Consultant psychiatrist based within the same team.
On a more strategic level they will relate to the
leadership and management structures of the Adult Mental Health and Learning
Disability Service Delivery Unit.
From an overall operational perspective, the post
holder will be accountable to the Clinical Directors and professional
responsibility will relate to the Medical Director, all are ultimately
responsible within the Trust to the Chief Executive.

- - MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
- - MRCPsych or Equivalent
- - Approval (or eligible for approval) under Section 12 (2) of the Mental Health Act.
- - Full registration with the General Medical Council (or eligible for full registration with the GMC at time of appointment)
Desirable
- - Approved Clinician status, or working towards Approved Clinician status.
Experience
Essential
- - A minimum of 4 years in the registrar or staff grade and/or specialty doctor grade and/or in the clinical and/or senior clinical medical officer grades, at least 3 of which include working within Psychiatry.
- - A minimum of 10 years medical work (either a continuous period or in aggregate) since obtaining a primary medical qualification which is (or would at the time have been) acceptable by the GMC for full, limited or temporary (but not provisional) registration. Placement on the overseas list will not by itself count towards the qualifying count towards the qualifying period.
- - Previous experience of working in a clinical leadership role.
