Sheffield Teaching NHS Foundation Trust are currently seeking organised and motivated candidates to work for the acute wards across 3 Hospitals in Sheffield; The Northern General, the Royal Hallamshire, and Weston Park Hospitals, under a long-term placement contract.Are you a dynamic and enthusiastic individual with excellent communication skills looking to embark on a new opportunity within the NHS? The acute team works with adults in inpatient beds and provides speech and language therapy input for communication and swallowing disorders. The postholder will work collaboratively within relevant multi-disciplinary teams to ensure best practice and care is provided. The candidate will have proven post graduate training in dysphagia and experience of working on acute hospital wards as well as awareness and experience of the requirement for excellence in clinical record keeping. The candidate will be able to work autonomously and as part of an interdisciplinary team.
Main duties of the job
To provide clinical Speech & Language Therapy to a defined specialised caseload as part of the acute hospital team
To provide a Speech & Language Therapy Service to adults with voice, swallowing and communication disorders
To use specialist knowledge to inform sound clinical judgements/decision making for case management
To make a differential diagnosis on clients communication/swallowing on the basis of evidence from assessment seeking advice as appropriate
To develop clear care plans based on best practice
To maintain up to date, concise and accurate case notes in line with RCSLT professional standards and local trust policies
To manage and prioritise own caseload independently
