Job summary

Thank you for your interest in this exciting role as a Speech and Language Therapist in the Adult Speech and Language Therapy team based at East Oxford Health Centre. We are seeking an experienced speech and language therapist who is passionate about people to provide support to adults people with acquired communication and swallowing difficulties.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be an integral part of ateam of Speech and Language Therapists covering a designated locality area within Oxfordshire. The locality team includes a Band 7 Clinical Lead SLT but the Band 6 post holder will also lead clinical projects and developments in the area, be responsible for managing their own clinical caseload and be involved in the team responsibility to co-ordinate a Speech and Language Therapy service to community hospitals, nursing/residentialcare homes, patients homes and community clinics, within the localityarea.

Adult Community Speech and Language Therapy Services are an NHS service providing community support to adults with speech, language and communication needs in Oxfordshire, plus supporting adults with eating, drinking and swallowing difficulties.

The Responsibilities

To assess, develop and implement specialist speech and language therapy treatments for patient with both communication and swallowing and feeding disorders.

To make appropriate clinical decisions following assessments, including differential diagnosis on the basis of evidence from assessment and develop clear care plans based on best practice.

To use clinical skills to generate written reports reflecting specialist knowledge

To provide appropriate specialist intervention and evaluate outcomes. To use skills to generate appropriate strategies for caseload management for complex clinical issues.

Provide advice to others regarding the management and care of patients/clients.

Working collaboratively with various professions across a variety of locations and agencies.

To monitor auditory, visual and kinaesthetic aspects of clients communication, adapting and facilitating according to perceived client needs.

To be successful in applying for this role you will need:

Degree level qualification or equivalent in Speech and Language Therapy

To be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)

Experience of working in the NHS

Enhanced DBS

Formal dysphagia training

Excellent interpersonal skills
