Thank you for your interest in this exciting role as a Mental Health Occupational Therapist in an Acute Neurosciences. We are seeking a cheerful and calming Occupational Therapist that is passionate about rehabilitating patients experiencing mental health crises to fulfil this exciting role.
Main duties of the job
You will be based with our established 11 bedded psychiatric intensive care unit in Oxford (Ashurst) where you will deliver evidence based Occupational Therapy interventions and use your creative problem solving to adapt opportunities for activity within PICU environment. This role is so valuable in ensuring patients are supported to maintain their occupational identities during this acute phase of ill health. Using activity as a therapeutic tool, as well as evidence-based assessments, you will assess an individuals readiness to step in to less restricted environments and progress their recovery.
The Inpatient Occupational Therapy team are driven to progress the quality of the service they deliver to our service users, carers and colleagues and regularly review their practice and identify objectives. Based on this we are currently implementing VdTMOCA. You will provide clinical leadership and supervision for Occupational Therapists across our inpatient units in Oxfordshire, work as part of the Adult Directorate Occupational Therapy senior leadership team and have opportunities to contribute to clinical projects as part of the wider senior management team in the Directorate.
