Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Paediatric Physiotherapist in the Childrens Therapies team at the Oxford Childrens Hospital. We are seeking an eager candidate who is able to provide a high standard of physiotherapy services to all paediatric patients within speciality areas of Acute Respiratory, Cystic Fibrosis, Oncology/haematology and Elective Inpatient Orthopaedics.

Main duties of the job

  • To provide an effective and efficient physiotherapy service to patients, including assessing, treating and delegating the changing workload within the designated specialist area and wider Paediatric caseload.
  • Perform specialist assessment of patients, and from this formulate a diagnosis and treatment plan, which is carried out as an autonomous practitioner.
  • To improve paediatric skills and knowledge through the various speciality areas. There will also be the opportunity to gain experience in Neurorehabilitation and Trauma patients.
  • Assist in the supervision, and teaching of Band 5 physiotherapists, and physiotherapy students.
  • Support the team leader and undertake delegated responsibilities.
  • To be aware of and operate within specific legal and national frameworks in relation to the care of children. E.g. The Children Act

The Trust/Ward/Department

Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest NHS teaching trusts in the country. It provides a wide range of general and specialist clinical services and is a base for medical education, training, and research. The Trust comprises four hospitals - the John Radcliffe Hospital, Churchill Hospital and Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Headington and the Horton General Hospital in Banbury.

Most Children's Services in Oxford are based at the Children's Hospital on the John Radcliffe Hospital site in a purpose-built environment for children. Services are also provided in the main John Radcliffe Hospital, Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre, Women's Centre and Horton General Hospital in Banbury. We provide a wide range of specialty services for children from throughout the Thames Valley and beyond. Services are largely provided by paediatricians and surgeons with particular paediatric specialist interests, but who also provide the general paediatric service.
