Ward/Dept: The Speech & Language Therapy Department
Hours: Full time 37.5 hours per week
Shift Pattern: Mon Fri (possibly weekend 1 in 4 for Stroke) 8 4pm and some weekend rosters negotiable
Pay Rates Day: £21.80 - £22.37

We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Speech and Language Therapist who is committed to providing a high standard of care to patients within our Community and Acute services. You will be based within our Acute SLT Team at Lister Hospital and working within East and North Hertfordshire in the Community.
The Acute SLT Service provides assessment and intervention to patients with dysphagia following a strong evidence-based approach. Acute dysphagia experience is essential as you will be working with a wide range of patients across Elderly Care, Surgical, Medical and Respiratory Wards. There is access to the SLT-led VF service with opportunities to develop competencies in this intervention.
You will be managing a varied and dynamic caseload in the community and will benefit from our unique hybrid approach of face-to-face and remote assessment, as well as contributing to pathway development across the service.

To take clinical responsibility as an autonomous specialist for the provision of a high-quality Speech and Language Therapy service to adult inpatients on the acute medical and surgical wards and the community in East & North Hertfordshire.
To assess, differentially diagnose and manage complex swallowing and communication impairments related to a wide range of conditions across the acute and community service pathways, with the aim of restoring optimum function or offering compensatory strategies.
To demonstrate an excellent knowledge of a range of both formal and informal assessments and apply them appropriately to a wide patient cohort.
To support both the immediate and long-term management of patients with a wide range of degenerative neurological conditions, coordinating with the MDT to provide a high level of care throughout the patient pathway.
To support junior colleagues, including NQTs and SLTAs, by providing both clinical and peer supervision.
The successful applicant will have established skills in dysphagia. Skills and experience in video fluoroscopy are desirable but not essential.
