Job summary

Job Title: Physiotherapist

Grade: Band 6

Location: Watford General Hospital, Vicarage Road, Watford, WD18 0HB

Ward/Dept: Inpatient Therapy

Hours: Full time 37.5 hours per week or less

Shift Pattern: Monday Friday, 8am-4pm.

Pay Rates Day: £18.10

We have an opportunity available for a HCPC registered physiotherapist to become a valued member of the physiotherapy team at West Hertfordshire NHS Trust, and work in a multi-disciplinary team.

Main duties of the job

The Responsibilities

To provide specialised assessment and treatment for patients with complex needs, and to provide expert advice, guidance and information to patients, health and social care professionals, carers and relatives and other non-professionals.

To perform advanced physiotherapeutic assessment of patients with diverse presentations and complex physical and psychological conditions, to provide a diagnosis and develop and deliver an individualised treatment programme.

To communicate with relevant medical and nursing staff, social workers, and other health care professionals, and patients relatives and carers who may be in direct contact with the post holder regarding patient care in order to facilitate a team approach to patient care.

To hold responsibility for own case load and be responsible for a defined area of the service or a particular patient type, working without direct supervision. Supervision takes the form of regular formal training and clinical reasoning sessions, peer review, case conferences and reflective practice. Access to advice and support from a senior physiotherapist is available if required, clinical work is not routinely evaluated.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Prior experience within the NHS
  • Member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy or equivalent recognised by Health Care Professionals Council
  • Physiotherapy degree qualification or equivalent
  • Acute hospital inpatient ward setting experience essential
  • Experience as qualified Band 5 physiotherapy in acute inpatient hospital setting required.
