Trust Location:Greater Manchester Mental Health- Prestwich Hospital

Pay Rates: £14.92 - £27.15

This role is for an experienced Band 6 nurse to cover wards at Meadowbrook.

If the staff member has a good working knowledge of Meadowbrook, they could take on the role of the senior nurse which is out of numbers. There would be an expectation to cover a ward if there was last minute sickness on any of the wards.

What you will be responsible for:

The role of the senior nurse is as follows (please note, the senior nurse also offers support to Maccoll ward which is currently based at Loweswater):

  • Support wards with high acuity levels and act as a clinical role model
  • Check the staffing for all wards and delegate internal rotation where required to support safer staffing
  • Support with seclusion reviews where required
  • Cover the nurses breaks on each ward
  • Complete a walkaround and check IPC and that the night cleaning duties have been completed on each ward
  • Respond to any fire alarms and take the lead where required
  • Support with CD checks on all wards
  • Complete de-briefs after incidents where required
  • Accept section papers
  • Support with the management of AWOLs where required
  • Check observation charts are completed as required

  • **ILS PMVA BLS can be provided by Trust if necessary** plus induction
  • Comply with NMC Professional Registration and keep up to date with current nursing practices
  • Ensure accurate records are kept in accordance with CHS policy and NMC guidelines
  • Undertake regular mandatory training*
  • *Depending on the Trust, you may require variable additional certification and skills.

Experience

  • A minimum of 6 months paid experience in an Acute hospital environment within the last 3 years, experience in Adult Forensics desirable.
