Job summary

We are recruiting for a Mental Health Practitioner at Greater Manchester Mental Health (Central East Community Mental Health Team).

Rated Good in their most recent CQC report, Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust, (GMMH) provides inpatient and community-based mental health care for Bolton, Manchester, Salford, Trafford and Wigan. Main duties of the job

The post holder will be a member of the multidisciplinary team, working both independently and alongside others to provide secondary mental health care to patients. They will work alongside other services and agencies to determine the needs and risks, and how these can be managed to meet recovery goals. They will contribute to the teams duty rota to provide a rapid response to those in crisis and will work as a lead clinician to a caseload of patients accessing the services.

Job responsibilities

  • Giving specialist advice to GPs and other referrers, making decisions based on level of need, urgency and risk.
  • Provide clinical specialist advice to other professionals on the assessment and intervention of clients in respect of their mental health needs
  • Potentially undertake psychological therapy assessments including risk assessment and risk management and any other assessments that may required by the service.
  • Work unaccompanied as a lone worker in accordance with health and safety requirements when required
  • Maintain appropriate, up-to-date, written and electronic records and activity data in accordance with Professional and Trust standards
  • Respect the individuality, values, cultural and religious diversity of clients and contribute to the provision of a service sensitive to those needs
  • Work within a multi-disciplinary team to provide adequate support
  • Awareness of the role of IAPT services in NHS delivery of mental health care
  • Knowledge of wider mental health presentations and evidence of completing risk assessments

Qualifications

Essential

  • Have a professional qualification in Mental Health Nursing, Social Work or Occupational Therapy and have a current registration with the appropriate registration body (Nursing and Midwifery Council, Social Work England or Health and Care Professions Council).
  • Have the suitable experience in a community mental health setting or have at least 2 years of post qualifying experience within the mental health field.
  • Be able to draw upon and reflect on personal experiences when working with complex cases.
  • Have a full and valid driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes due to the community element of the role/ access to reliable transport.
  • The service may require the post-holder to offer supervision to other staff.
  • The post-holder will receive management supervision from the Team Manager.
