Stroke Medicine Consultant

Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a Consultant to work with us at East & North Herts NHS Foundation Trust on their Stroke specialist team.

Main duties of the job

Your key responsibilities will be to:

• Provide in-patient and outpatient care for patients with stroke, TIA and suspected cerebrovascular disease
• Contribute to the provision of the acute stroke specialist service delivering thrombolysis and other specialist treatments.
• Development and clinical delivery of comprehensive stroke assessment
• Comprehensive assessment of stroke mimics
• Acute inpatient assessment and treatment of stroke,stroke mimics and non-stroke patients admitted to stroke ward
• TIA and stroke follow up outpatient clinics
• On call commitment for stroke Thrombolysis in hours and out of hours
• Supporting the training of medical staff, clinical specialist, ward nurses and other members of the MDT
• Providing effective leadership to multidisciplinary staff members

• Speciality: Stroke Medicine
• Location: Hertfordshire
• Shift patterns: 8:00-16:00 Mon-Fri on-going, weekends/part-time hours also available
• Hours per week: 20-50 hours available
• Start date: ASAP- no end date, this is on-going the client will accept short term contracts

• Clinical attachment complete and minimum of 3 months paid experience in the NHS/UK
