Job summary
The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has been set up to provide health security for the nation by protecting from infectious disease and external hazards. It will take action to mitigate threats to health before they materialise. UKHSA will be a trusted source of advice to government and to the public.
Main duties of the job
As a Communications and Engagement manager for UKHSA, you will be responsible for developing and implementing communication strategies and engagement plans that support the goals and objectives of an organization, You will work closely with stakeholders, including employees, and organisational unit, to enhance their understanding and engagement with the organization and its initiatives as well as develop targeted communication materials.
Fixed term role for 8 months with approximately 1 day a month in the Canary Wharf office

- Develop and implement communication and engagement strategies that align with the organization's goals and objectives
- Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to enhance their understanding of the organization and its initiatives
- Develop and deliver targeted communication materials, including newsletters, press releases, social media content.
- Plan and execute events that engage stakeholders, such as town halls, focus groups, and community events
- Monitor and analyse media coverage and develop appropriate responses to negative coverage
- Provide communication and engagement support to projects and initiatives across the organisation
- Work with internal teams, to ensure consistency in messaging and branding
- Measure the effectiveness of communication and engagement initiatives and make recommendations for improvement
- Stay up to date with the latest trends and best practices in communication and engagement
- Any other project related tasks, delegated by the programme manager

Essential
- Qualification in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field
- Proven experience as a Communications and Engagement Officer or similar role
- Experience delivering targeted communication materials, including newsletters, press releases, social media content.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with stakeholders at all levels
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to think creatively and strategically
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and social media platforms
Desirable
- Knowledge of GDPR, information governance and information management, or willingness to learn
- Experience of working in a government department
- Experience of working in an agile project delivery environment
