Main duties of the job

About the Trust:

West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust provides acute hospital-based and specialist healthcare services to around half a million people living in Hertfordshire, north London and further afield.

The Trust was the first hospital in Europe to treat patients with Puritan Bennett 980 ventilators, a type of ventilator that helps patients to breathe more naturally and recover more quickly.

Hertfordshire has the best of both worlds, surrounded by beautiful countryside but with good road and rail links to both London and Cambridge, as well as comprehensive bus services across the main towns (Hemel Hempstead, St. Albans and Watford).

What youll be responsible for:

  1. Provide a nursing assessment when appropriate, of referred cases to determine the suitability for mental health nursing intervention.
  2. Act as a prime provider of care for allocated patient(s) by planning, assessing and evaluating patient programmes of care.
  3. Frequently prepare for, participate in and attend ward rounds and other multi-professional meetings.
  4. Ensure a high standard of nursing in the application of clinical nursing procedures and treatments including the custody, storage and administration of medicines.

Qualifications/experience:

  • A minimum of 6 months paid experience in an Acute hospital environment within the last 3 years
  • Comply with NMC Professional Registration
  • Ensure accurate records are kept in accordance with CHS policy and NMC guidelines
