Main duties of the job

The Trust:

West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust provides acute hospital-based and specialist healthcare services to around half a million people living in Hertfordshire, north London and further afield.

The Trust was the first hospital in Europe to treat patients with Puritan Bennett 980 ventilators, a type of ventilator that helps patients to breathe more naturally and recover more quickly.

Hertfordshire has the best of both worlds, surrounded by beautiful countryside but with good road and rail links to both London and Cambridge, as well as comprehensive bus services across the main towns (Hemel Hempstead, St. Albans and Watford).

Be responsible for:

  1. To be responsible for all aspects of patient care including the assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of direct patient care with supervision from senior staff.
  2. To ensure accurate and comprehensive nursing records are maintained using appropriate written and electronic documentation.
  3. To ensure high standards of care are given to all patients, monitoring this through spot checks and clinical quality indicators outcome measures.
  4. To ensure communication with patients and significant others is established, ensuring empathy and reassurance regarding, assessment, care and treatment.

Qualification/experience:

  • Minimum of 6 months paid experience in an Acute environment within the last 3 years
  • Comply with NMC Professional Registration
  • Ensure accurate records are kept in accordance with NMC guidelines
