Job summary
Long Stratton Medical Partnership are looking to recruit an experienced and highly motivated dispenser to join our team on a permanent basis - 24 hours per week, working over 4 days.
The purpose of the role is to process all relevant prescriptions as authorised by GPs and prescribing nurses where appropriate in accordance with the principles of good practice and to provide an efficient and accurate dispensing service with minimum supervision and to ensure a high quality safe service to patients.
Main duties of the job
- Process patient acute and repeat medication requests.
- Ensure the correct labelling of drugs and medicines.
- Dispense checked drugs and medications to patients.
- Collect all due prescription charges and ensure that the patient declaration on the reverse of the FP10 is duly filled in and signed by the patient.
- Ensure that all monies received or handled on behalf of the practice are appropriately through dispensary till.
- Promptly forward all invoices and dispensary related correspondence to the practice manager or dispensary manager according to practice policy.
- Notify the authorising doctor of any FP10 returns/feedback from the PPA so that any appropriate remedial action may be taken.
- Operate efficient stock control appropriate to the needs of the practice with the objective of ensuring continuity of supply for patients and minimising wastage through out of date stock.
- Ensure that drugs are stored in an appropriate manner in accordance with the accompanying instructions.
- Ensure that shelves and all work surfaces are regularly cleaned to maintain a high level of hygiene within the dispensary and that all dispensary equipment is kept clean.
- Take prompt action in response to any drug alert bulletins that may be received from time to time.
- Ensure that refrigerated items are stored at the appropriate temperature and to maintain a temperature control record/logbook.
- Maintain full and accurate records of all dispensing transactions incorporating the use of computers

We have completed our surgery expansion work with a new wing being added to include 7 clinical rooms.
Our Practice has 5 Partner GPs leading an MDT of 3 permanent salaried GPs, an emergency care practitioner, an advanced nurse practitioner, 2 clinical pharmacists, a pharmacy technician, a team of registered nurses, 3 HCAs & a phlebotomist plus superb teams in administration.
