Practice Nurse

Job summary

Queens Park Group Surgery in Bedford is looking to welcome an experienced practice nurse to the team, to assess, plan, develop, implement and evaluate treatment programmes for our patients, on a full or part time basis depending on the successful applicant.

The main purpose of the role is the implementation of health promotion, disease management strategies and provision of a full range of nursing services to the patients of the practice. These will include, chronic disease management and the completion of health checks, health screening, immunisation and vaccination programmes.

Main duties of the job

• General nursing duties, e.g. dressings, ear syringing, etc.
• Complete ECG and spirometry testing.
• Provision of health and travel advice.
• Health checks for both newly registered patients and the over 75s.
• Carry out screenings, e.g. lipids, blood pressure, cervical smears, etc.
• Support and assistance with clinics, e.g. diabetic, hypertension, asthma, menopause, warfarin, minor surgery, contraception etc.
• Taking and preparing of pathology samples and venepuncture if required.

We are a very long-established practice working on two sites in Bedford, looking after 12,500 patients. We are also care-taking another local practice in Bedford, with a list size of 9,000 patients.
