Job summary

Nayland Surgery is looking to welcome a qualified dispenser into our busy practice, to play a full and active role within the practice multi-disciplinary team. The role is offered for 30 hours per week, but we can be flexible on this, with days and times to be discussed at interview.

Main duties of the job

• Process all relevant prescriptions and repeat prescriptions as authorised by GPs and prescribing nurses, in accordance with the good practice principles of the Dispensing Services Quality Scheme.
• Ensure that all medicines and appliances dispensed are checked against the prescription and when there is doubt about the appropriateness of the item, the dose or labelling instructions, to check with the authorising or duty doctor or duty.
• Collect all due prescription charges and ensure that the patient declaration on the reverse of the FP10 is duly filled in and signed by the patient.
• Process dossett boxes.
• Manage ordering stock and stock control.
• Answer and deal with dispensary phone enquiries.
• Sort and dispose of unwanted/returned medication.
• Any other duties to assist in the smooth day-to-day running of the dispensary and surgery as directed by the either the dispensary manager or practice manager.
