Job summary
Ambrose Avenue Group Practice is excited to offer an excellent opportunity for a General Practice Assistant (GPA) to join our team on a full-time basis. The role consists of 37.5 hours per week spread over five days, although part-time applications will also be considered.

Main duties of the job
Administrative Support:
- Sort clinical correspondence, prioritise actions, coordinate referrals, and schedule tests and follow-up appointments.
- Redirect some correspondence to other professionals, such as clinical pharmacists.
- Extract key information from letters, accurately code patient data, and update records.
- Complete basic forms and essential elements of various documents for GP approval, such as insurance forms, mortgage applications, and benefits agency forms.
- Manage workflow and prioritise key tasks to help free up GP time.
- Arrange appointments, referrals, tests, and follow-up appointments for patients.
Basic Clinical Tasks:
- Assist with blood pressure checks, urine dipstick testing, ECGs, phlebotomy, and more.
- Support GPs during immunization sessions or wound care.
- Communicate clearly and compassionately with patients regarding procedures and care.
Coordination and Liaison:
- Act as an important link between GPs, other clinicians, external agencies, and patients.
- Ensure seamless patient care by collaborating with hospital teams, social services, and community providers.
Patient-Centred Care:
- Treat every patient with respect, kindness, and confidentiality.
- Guide patients to the most appropriate services or support within the Primary Care Network (PCN).

We are a training practice and offer services to a population of over 14,500 patients.
