Job summary
East Anglia's Children's Hospices, EACH, are looking for children's, adult or learning disabilities nurses who want to work within a multidisciplined team, to further their experience or develop skills working in children's palliative care. These positions will be based at The Nook Hospice, Framingham Earl, Norwich and are offered on a permanent full or part-time basis with a minimum expectation of 24 hours per week.
The standard shift structure is 12.5 hour shifts (includes unpaid break, bank holidays and weekends).
Day shift - 7:30am-8:00pm.
Night shift - 7:30pm-8:00am.
Homecare shift - in the community (hours vary).
With enhanced rates as follows;
- +30% Saturdays and evenings
- +60% Sundays and bank holidays
- Competitive on-call rates
Main duties of the job
- Deliver safe and effective nursing care involving use of a wide range of clinical skills.
- Deliver holistic nursing care and support to babies, children and young people with palliative and end of life care needs and their families.
- Lead and co-ordinate shifts and undertake day-to-day operational duties as required.
- Assess, plan, implement and evaluate care plans to meet the diverse and individual needs of babies, children, young people and their families, ensuring holistic care provided is family centred, needs led, evidence informed and meets all statutory requirements.
- Implement symptom management, escalation and advance care plans, evaluating them in partnership with the children or young people and their families under the direction of a clinical nurse specialist, matron or nurse consultant.
- Delegate nursing care to senior care assistants.
- Lead and coordinate shifts.
- Maintain clinical records using both paper-based and SystmOne electronic care records system in accordance with best practice guidance.
You may occasionally be asked to work at other locations and in the families homes.
