Job summary

Haven Health surgery in Felixstowe has a multi-disciplinary team who are serious about healthcare and achieving the best for all their patients but who like to work in a supportive and fun atmosphere. We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and flexible practice nurse. The vacancy is for 20 hrs a week, however, flexibility is crucial to accommodate training, holidays and occasional sickness. We offer a competitive salary and the option of joining the NHS pension scheme. We would love to hear from candidates with GP surgery experience. The successful candidate should be able to work calmly and professionally as part of a team.

Main duties of the job

  • Provide care directly to patients without referral via another senior nurse or doctor.
  • Undertake general nursing duties within the nursing team, including: Immunisations/baby imms, cervical smears, contraception advice and pill checks, diabetes (with Warwick diploma or similar), chronic disease management particularly respiratory - preferable with a diploma in asthma/COPD and general treatment room duties working to practice protocols and guidelines.
  • Provide general and specific health assessment and screening to the practice population (within agreed protocols) with referral to general practitioners as necessary.
  • Advise patients on general health and minor ailments with referral to general practitioners as necessary.
  • Provide nursing treatments to patients in participation with general practitioners or independently to agreed protocols.
  • Implement a systematic approach to care, to include efficient and accurate record keeping for the benefit and safety of patients/clients, continuity of care and professional security.

Within easy access of Ipswich, (20 minutes with staff parking) and supports in excess of 8800 patients from a diverse range of backgrounds. As a teaching and training practice we will support, train and professionally develop the right individuals who can help us meet our patients needs. Our current clinical team consists of GP partners, 3 salaried GPs, 2 ANP/nurse practitioner's, 3 practice nurses, 3 HCAs, a medicines management team as well as a home visiting paramedic team.

Working alongside 6 other GP practices across Suffolk, we are looking for someone who is both enthusiastic and committed to enhance our very friendly and supportive team.
