Job summary

The Colne Practice in Rickmansworth has an exciting opportunity for a hardworking and enthusiastic paramedic to join our team on a part-time basis, for 3 days per week. As a paramedic, you will be an integral part of our multidisciplinary team, working collaboratively to develop and implement effective patient management plans.

Main duties of the job

  • Demonstrate advanced clinical knowledge.
  • Assess, plan, treat and refer patients, carrying out consultations in the surgery or the community as an autonomous practitioner.
  • Use own clinical judgement to diagnose and treat patients either face to face consultation, clinical telephone triage and other mediums.
  • Make appropriate referrals to primary, secondary and social services care, following practice. Follow pathways and protocols.
  • Deliver quality clinical care in a timely manner to patients.
  • Prescribe medicines as indicated, and appropriate, to address patient need, according to medicines management policy, NMC standards or referring to registered GP as necessary.
  • Recognise and initiate where appropriate relevant diagnostic investigations, using skills in this area to take the correct course of action.

About us

The Colne Practice is a friendly GP practice with a list size of approximately 10,500 patients. Our team comprises 7 GP partners, 2 practice nurses, 1 HCA, 2 clinical pharmacists and reception and admin teams.We have on site staff parking.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Be a registered paramedic, with current HCPC registration and have post-registration experience.
  • Minimum of two years (or equivalent) post qualification experience.
  • Prescribing qualification.

  • Triage and patient examination skills.
  • Knowledge of acute and long-term conditions.
  • Must be prepared to undertake home visits to patients or care homes.

Desirable

  • Worked within a primary care setting (GP practice).
  • Experience of Emis Web clinical system.
