Job summary

Sidney House Surgery is looking for an additional HCA/GPA to join our existing team on a part time basis for 20 hours per week, predominantly in the afternoons and spread over 5 days.

Main duties of the job

  • Treatment room duties including ECG recordings, phlebotomy, dressings, stitch removal, weight and blood pressure monitoring.
  • Patient health checks.
  • Participating in chronic disease management under the supervision of the nurses, in particular respiratory and diabetic annual reviews, including housebound diabetic reviews.
  • Administering vaccines and immunisations under PSD, including B12, Depot, Shingles, Flu, Pneumo, Zolodex etc.
  • INR clinics under the supervision of the nurses.
  • Chaperoning duties.
  • Processing and management of samples requested by GPs/nurses.
  • Sterilising, cleansing and maintenance of surgical equipment.
  • Vaccine/cold chain storage, monitoring and recording.

Other duties may include:

  • Single-use equipment and vaccine re-stocking and stock rotation.
  • Clearing and re-stocking consulting rooms.
  • Assisting in the assessment and surveillance of patients health and well-being.
  • Supporting the admin team with coding clinical correspondence.
  • Helping to raise awareness of health and well-being and how it can be promoted.

About us

We are a two-site training practice based in the semi-rural villages of Hatfield Peverel and Boreham, serving a patient population of 11,300.We are a SystmOne Practice with a consistently high QOF achievement and a CQC rating of Good.

We are part of the Aegros PCN with Lt. Waltham & Great Notley, Douglas Grove Surgery and the Beacon Health Group.

Our team is made up of three GP Partners, five salaried GPs, a paramedic practitioner, a nurse prescriber, a practice nurse, two HCAs, and a phlebotomist. We are further supported by PCN staff including a pharmacist and physiotherapist.

  • Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care or equivalent.
  • Ideally a qualification in phlebotomy/venepuncture.

Experience

  • Strong clinical skills.
  • Confidence and competence in all HCA duties required for the post.
