Job summary
Hedingham Medical Centre are looking to welcome an experienced dispensary manager into our busy practice, to deal with the day-to-day management of our rural general practice dispensary. This position is offered on a full-time basis.
The main purpose of the role is to effectively manage the dispensary staff whilst leading on driving profitability and effective buying and stock management. You will be responsible for overseeing and managing the day to day running of the dispensary and tasked to meet and maintain required service levels.

Main duties of the job
- Management of the dispensary team in line with best practice including managingstaff rotas, holiday planning etc.
- Stock management/purchasing.
- Negotiate discounts and deals with pharmacy suppliers.
- Involvement with recruitment and training of new dispensing staff including performance reviews.
- Assist in identifying and overcoming areas of concern with employees to maximise employee satisfaction.
- Dispensing acute/repeat/private prescriptions.
- Updating patients repeat screens on GP's instructions.
- Dispensing private prescriptions.
- Checking colleagues dispensing.
- Handing out prescriptions and collecting charges and collecting and recording private charges.
- Sorting, stamping and endorsing prescriptions.
- Ensuring prescriptions are endorsed correctly in order to ensure correct reimbursement.
- Controlled drugs handling, storage, record keeping and associated regulations.
- Liaise with local pharmacist.
- Collection of monthly PPA returns.
- Oversee the checking of purchase invoices and marking of PA items.
